Pear has a naturally gentle sweetness and low acidity, which makes it easier on digestion than many fruit juices. Cardamom adds warmth and depth without needing sugar and is traditionally used to support digestion and reduce bloating.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 200 ml unsweetened pear juice

  • 100 ml cold water

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom or 3 lightly crushed cardamom pods

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • Sparkling water to top up

  • Ice cubes

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey, to taste

  • Garnish: thin pear slice or lemon twist

How to make it

Add the pear juice, cold water, cardamom and lemon juice to a jug and stir well.
Taste and add a small amount of honey if needed.
Fill glasses with ice and pour the pear mixture halfway up.
Top with sparkling water and gently stir once.
Garnish and serve chilled.
