Golden Vanilla Coconut Calm

A Warming, Low Sugar Drink

Not every alcohol free drink needs bubbles or sweetness to feel special. The Golden Vanilla Coconut Calm is a warm, creamy and soothing drink inspired by traditional golden milk, adapted to be low sugar and supportive for women’s health.

Why choose a warm, low sugar drink?

Many women find that as they move through their 40s and beyond, their bodies become more sensitive to sugar, caffeine and alcohol. Warm drinks that are gently spiced can feel grounding, calming and satisfying, especially during stressful or busy periods.

This drink is designed to nourish rather than stimulate, making it a lovely choice in the afternoon or evening when you want to slow down and support your body.

Ingredients

  • 150 ml unsweetened coconut milk (from a carton, not tinned)

  • 100 ml hot water

  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric

  • Small pinch ground ginger

  • Small pinch ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • Optional garnish: a light sprinkle of cinnamon or coconut flakes

How to make it

Gently warm the coconut milk and hot water together in a small pan. Do not allow it to boil, as gentle heat keeps the flavour smooth and comforting.
Whisk in the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and black pepper until fully blended.
Pour into a mug or heat safe glass.
Garnish lightly if you wish and sip slowly.

Why this supports women’s health

Coconut milk provides healthy fats that can help keep energy levels steadier and support satiety, which many women find helpful for managing cravings.

Turmeric and ginger are traditionally used to support inflammation balance and digestion. Including them in small, gentle amounts makes the drink nourishing without being overpowering.

Vanilla and cinnamon add warmth and perceived sweetness without adding sugar. This can help satisfy the desire for something comforting while supporting mood and blood sugar balance.

Together, these ingredients create a drink that feels indulgent but works with your body rather than against it.

A simple ritual that makes a difference

In my clinical work, I often see that small daily rituals like choosing supportive drinks can have a noticeable impact on how women feel. These gentle changes can improve energy, digestion and overall wellbeing.

If you want more simple, realistic ways to feel good again, my book Have a Magnificent Menopause: A Straightforward Guide to Looking Good and Feeling Great explores how nutrition, lifestyle and daily habits can support women through perimenopause and menopause in a way that fits real life.
