Menopause Weight Gain? Here’s What Works!

I was delighted to join Dr Ellen Albertson, The Midlife Whisperer, on the Rock Your Midlife podcast to discuss menopause, weight management, nutrition and how women can take control of their health and wellbeing after 40.

As a registered nutritional therapist and menopause specialist, I regularly work with women experiencing unwanted weight gain, fatigue, changes in their skin and declining confidence during perimenopause and menopause.

These changes can be frustrating, particularly when the healthy habits that worked in your 30s no longer seem to deliver the same results. However, understanding what's happening in your body is the first step towards making positive, sustainable changes.

What We Discussed

During our conversation, we explored several important aspects of menopause health:

  • Menopause and weight gain: How hormonal changes influence body composition, fat distribution and metabolism.

  • Nutrition and lifestyle: Practical strategies to support energy, maintain muscle mass and achieve sustainable weight management.

  • Skin health and ageing: How declining oestrogen affects collagen, skin elasticity and hydration.

  • Stress and sleep: Why managing stress and prioritising restorative sleep are essential for overall health and wellbeing.

Taking Control of Your Menopause Health

One of the key messages I share with women is that menopause doesn't have to mean accepting exhaustion, unwanted weight gain or a loss of confidence as inevitable consequences of ageing.

With the right nutritional support, regular movement, stress management and healthy lifestyle habits, it's possible to feel strong, energised and confident throughout menopause and beyond.

Small, consistent changes can make a significant difference to your long-term health and quality of life.

My thanks to Dr Ellen Albertson for inviting me to share my knowledge and experience on Rock Your Midlife.
